Beauty captured in a photo

The title certainly applies to the photos taken by Dutch photographer
Wendelien Daan. Amongst her body of work are publications for Surface, Elle, Paris Vogue, Vogue Nippon, Wallpaper, V-man, Nylon, Harpers Bazaar Russia and i-D. Just to name a few.

I am fortunate to have one photo [Jennifer #2] of Wendelien Daan in my living room. I'll post the image soon.

USM Modular Furniture

Choose a shape and colour that best suits your living area. I am seriously thinking about getting something from USM. If only I could decide on a colour...

Cheap but nice...

If you don't want to blow a months salary on a watch, like the watches you find further into the blog, than I have something for you. It is very hard to find a cheap watch that still looks ok. The Alessi Kaj won't hurt your wallet [€89,-] nor will it hurt your image.

Theophilus London #2

I thought I would share one more tune of the man and give you some info whilst you listen to it.

Theophilus London is not a nickname, but his actual name as given to him by his parents.

They named him after his great grandfather, you can imagine that having a name like Theophilus is no fun to grow up with. The kids teased him a lot. It was not until he was older that he began to appreciate the name, mainly because it is so unique.

He was raised in New York where he moved back and forth between Brooklyn, Harlem and Queens. Growing up in Harlem you would expect him to be into Hip Hop, but that is a wrong assumption. His mother listened to Kiss fm all day long where he spent his days listening to Garth Brooks, Motown classics and Luther Vandross. These artist really shaped him till the age of 10.

Then he moved back to Brooklyn where he couldn't help but fall in love with Hip Hop as it was everywhere he went. He started really listening to beats and began rap batlling.

The first day of High School as a freshman he asked who the best rapper of the school was and then totally destroyed this dude in front of the whole school.

The Kiss fm mixed with the Hip Hop influences is really what best describes the sound of Theophilus London today. In my opinion this man is ahead of his time.

Japanese illustrations

There is actually a funny personal story behind these illustrations. About ten years ago I was an intern at a design agency in Amsterdam. In their brandbook they of course had all this nice info on their work, a portfolio if you will.

The pages of the book were folded in a way that you would only see the outside of them (Japanese binding method). On the inside of the folded pages were these Japanese erotic images that you see above. They were meant as sort of a funny surprise to give the brandbook a bit of an edge to it.

I can tell you; not all clients found it funny...

My personal Japanese jean hunter! #2

1940-1950 Lee Rider 101b. If I had to guess I would say that this vintage jean belonged to somebody that worked at a gas station. Why? Because the jean really smells like gasoline. I am now trying to get the smell out. Any tips?

The Seagaia Ocean Dome

The Seagaia Ocean Dome is the world's largest indoor waterpark, it measures 300 metres in length and 100 metres in width. The Ocean Dome sports a fake flame-spitting volcano, artificial sand and the world's largest retractable roof, which provides a permanently blue sky even on a rainy day. The air temperature is always held at around 30 degrees celsius and the water at around 28.

Crazy kids those Japanese...

Keep warm "Marmot Lithium Reg"

This one's for everybody who likes to escape from the concrete jungle and ventures out into a tent. I myself am a pussy and only attempts some camping in summer, like last August during my surf trip in Spain where it was about 30 degrees. But for all you die-hards who go out camping in winter; you need a good sleeping bag.

Marmot gives you a sleeping bag, which is ultra-lightweight and made from the highest quality down keeping you warm in conditions up to
-18 degrees.

Euro Condom by Reinhold Brandmair and the Ingo Maurer team

Because of EU regulations, frosted light bulbs will no longer be allowed. Reinhold Brandmair and the Ingo Maurer team found the perfect solution to avoid the brightness. They invented the Euro Condom, made from heat-resistant silicon.

Happy new year!
